Reservoir Modeling and Characterization (Oct 2023 – Feb 2025)
I conducted a comprehensive review and quality check of previous reservoir modeling and engineering studies for the Halk El Menzel offshore field. Working closely with the G&G team, I redefined the depositional environment model of the Ain Ghrab–Ketetna carbonate reservoir and improved well correlations. I developed a facies model by integrating core, well log, and seismic data, and further identified and classified rock types using petrophysical analysis, core data, and SCAL results to enhance reservoir characterization. Building on this, I constructed a full 3D geological model in Petrel, including structural, facies, rock type, porosity, permeability, water saturation, and net-to-gross models, applying geostatistical methods and integrating all available datasets (seismic, well logs, core, and SCAL). I calculated STOIIP from static models and validated results against dynamic models. Additionally, I performed reservoir simulation—history matching and production forecasting—to evaluate the recovery performance of the thin heavy oil rim carbonate reservoir, and released new well locations, directly contributing to strategic field development decisions.
Field Operations and Reservoir Evaluation Planning
I assisted in monitoring daily production operations on-site and analyzed production data trends to support performance optimization. I participated in planning future drilling operations by defining reservoir evaluation requirements (PLT, RST) and coordinated technical meetings with service companies to align logging and evaluation objectives. Furthermore, I conducted both technical and commercial evaluations of vendor offers for reservoir evaluation services, ensuring optimal selection for upcoming operations.
